The Maryland Bonsai Association's roots date back to the 1970's when a group of enthusiasts began to meet to share their common interest in Bonsai. Today our members share that same enthusiasm. 

 

As the popularity and interest in Bonsai has grown, the club has continued to evolve and grow. We strive to assist members to increase their knowledge and skills, and to share with the community an appreciation of Bonsai and related arts.

 

Our members join us from all parts of Maryland, DC, Virginia. Pennsylvania and Delaware. We are proud that our name reflects the opportunities for new members to participate in a regional club. 

 

Meetings are generally held on the 4th Sunday of every month from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. We try to meet in different locations convenient to our members, with most meetings being in the suburban Baltimore area. The business meeting is followed by an informational presentation or a workshop. Members and guest are encouraged to bring trees to the meetings to work on. There is usually free or inexpensive starter material available at the meeting.

The club is active in the community and conducts workshops for Garden Clubs, Social Groups, Churches, Schools and local businesses. We participate in the Maryland Home and Garden Show, and many other events.

Members can participate in advanced level workshops and study groups conducted by experienced Amateur and Professional Bonsai Artists. The study groups consist of a limited number of participants meeting with the instructor 4 - 6 times a year generally with a charge to cover materials and the instructor's time.

Our Calendar is kept up to date and lists our upcoming meetings, workshops and community events.

Membership is currently $25 per year for a household, we encourage potential members to attend a meeting to join. We take cash, check, paypal and zelle.
